The weekend workshops that have been running every couple of months or so have been very enjoyable, and as we can’t quite run workshops in person yet they are a great way to continue playing and learning.
Friday’s evening play-along session is open to all instruments, and the notation (with harmony and chord suggestions) and audio files of the tunes will be provided in advance. (yes, transposing instruments and other clefs are welcome and will be catered for! Please get in touch early to request details)
The two fiddle workshops on Sat 22nd May will each teach a tune, phrase by phrase with all the tips and techniques required to bring the tune off the page – once you know the trick to playing any awkward passages you’ll wonder what the problem ever was! The morning workshop will look at John Sheahan’s beautifully lyrical tune, Marino Casino, and in the afternoon we will explore a terrific Northumbrian rant by legendary piper Chris Ormston, Saint Cuthbert Crossing the Rhine.
Notation and audio files are provided in advance and recordings of the Zoom calls will be available afterwards for participants to replay on demand. Full details and links for booking are on the
May Workshops page.
