Tyneside Fiddle Alliance are delighted to have been asked to perform a support spot at the Tynedale Accordion & Fiddle Club. We’ll be on in the first half, before the main act which is the Addie Harper Band from Wick.

The programme by the Tyneside Fiddle Alliance will include a variety of traditional music. We are delighted to be welcoming Special Guests Chris Meredith, Shona Mooney and Jim Boyle from FiddleTutor. Three fantastic musicians and teachers who are sure to inspire. There will also be spots from our very own talented members – including Northumbrian Pipers, and a fiddle duet. Join us for a fabulous evening of traditional music.

A Spring Celebration of Northumbrian Music @ St George's Church, Jesmond

Tyneside Fiddle Alliance will be in St George’s Church, Jesmond on Saturday 14th March for a celebration of traditional music from Northumberland and beyond. They are delighted to be sharing the concert with The Northumbrian Ranters, a fantastic group of young musicians who meet regularly to rehearse in Morpeth. The evening promises to be full of energy with a variety of traditional tunes from both groups.

All tickets £5. Doors open 6.30 pm.

Tickets will be available on the door, or in advance online.

HISS Online Workshops – Set Building @ Online - on Zoom

This workshop series will explore how to use harmonic relationships, melodic flow, lift and narrative development together with groove to create great sets of tunes for folk sessions and ceilidhs.

Tools: 4 x 1 hour weekly online workshops exploring different considerations when combining folk melodies with a view to creating your own sets of tunes. These will be followed by a single 2 hour evening online session (a separate event on Fri 18th June) where we will try out some of the tune combinations discussed in the workshops. Participation in the workshops is not a prerequisite for joining in with the session.

£10 per workshop / £35 for all 4 workshops.

Access to a copy of the HISS Tunebook is required for these sessions. If you do not already have one, you can buy a download from the HISS website

This one-off 2 hour session will allow participants to play a variety of folk tunes, led by Stewart Hardy and Mary Tyler and will also be an opportunity for attendees at Stewart’s ‘Folk Set’ series to try out tune combinations that were discussed in the workshops. Attendance at the previous workshops is not a prerequisite for joining this session.

Northumbrian Pipers’ Society and Tyneside Fiddle Alliance

Annual Concert:  Friday 21st October, 7.30 pm

The Northumbrian Pipers’ Society and the Tyneside Fiddle Alliance are teaming up to bring you some fantastic performers for an evening of Northumbrian music featuring pipes, fiddles and more! I will be joined by a friend or two to play a few tunes in the first half, and the TFA will be finishing the concert with a wonderful set.
7.30pm on Friday 21st October, in-person at King’s Hall or Zoom livestream.
Tickets £12. Early bird ticket price of £10 until 10th October.
Make sure to select the correct option for venue attendance or livestream! There’s also an option to ‘pay bit more’ when selecting your ticket(s) if you wish.
