For this concert the Tyneside Fiddle Alliance will perform music from their ever expanding repertoire. The programme will feature a feast of traditional music blended with beautiful harmonies and accompaniments. In the concert this year we are delighted to be joined once again by Woolsington Strings, a smaller ensemble whose members are familiar faces from the region’s community music groups. There will also be solo and duet performances from some of our leaders and members. The Fiddle Alliance has enjoyed supporting the local music festivals this year, and have again been winning awards in Morpeth and Rothbury, and this is their final performance of the year – where better than the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s, Gateshead.

Stewart will be holding a Youth Workshop as part of the Fiddle Day in Low Fell on Sunday 10th December 2017.

The focus will be on tunes and techniques for fiddle players, geared towards young people of around Grade 3 standard or above.

The workshop will be held at the Eve Trew School of Dance in Low Fell, and onsite car parking and good transport links are available.

Stewart will be holding a Fiddle Day in Low Fell on Sunday 10th December 2017.

The focus will be on tunes and techniques for fiddle players – popular and interesting folk tunes and the techniques required on the fiddle to help these come to life (bowing, groove, ornamentation). This workshop is aimed at intermediate and improving adult learners (not complete beginners). There is a separate Youth Workshop for young people.

The day will be taught from 11.30 am – 3 pm with a 30 min break for lunch at 1 pm. Please bring your lunch, or there is a Co-op and a Subway open on Sundays in Low Fell. Tea, coffee and juice will be provided.

If you are unable to attend for the whole day, it is possible to book for either the morning or afternoon sessions only. The workshop will be designed as a whole day, but either session will stand alone and can be booked separately (Morning 11:30 – 13:00 / Afternoon 13:30 – 15:00).

Midwinter Warmer – Holly & Ivy will be performing a concert at 7.30 pm in Seaton Sluice Community Centre, tickets £10. This follows a Day of Song led by David Oliver and Jane Harland. To book tickets for the concert and find out more about the workshops, email Jane Harland.

Following last year’s very enjoyable visit, the Holly & Ivy Roadshow will be returning to Core Music for an early evening concert at Sunday 17th December at 6 pm.

The Holly and Ivy roadshow is a concert presenting songs, stories, dances and customs associated with midwinter, Christmas and the New Year. It’s lively, informal, participatory and highly professional. With a special contribution from Teesdale’s Cream Tees.

Tyneside Fiddle Alliance are delighted to have been asked to perform a support spot at the Tynedale Accordion & Fiddle Club. We’ll be on in the first half, before the main act which is the Addie Harper Band from Wick.
