Hawthorn’s Sweeter Shade (Stewart Hardy)

Collaborations are one of the most rewarding ways to write a tune. Julie-Ann Kay and I wrote this one together, imagining warm summer Sunday afternoons, lazing by the water under the shade of trees without a care in the world. Shakespeare’s words from Henry VI seemed particularly apposite and so we used those for the title.
