A lovely intimate House Concert at a friend’s house in the south west of corner of Gateshead, where we will be playing more new material from our upcoming album.

In the Community Centre in Seaton Sluice there will be another of the extremely popular “Geordie Nights” featuring such lumineries of the North East folk scene as Benny Graham, Jim Mageean, Stu Luckley, Barry and Ingrid Temple with more possibilities yet to be confirmed. Lurking somewhere in the shadows will be somebody resembling myself doing their best to hide their Midland origins by speaking very little! Northumbrian and Traditional Music presented by the Tyneside Fiddle Alliance.

For this concert the Tyneside Fiddle Alliance will perform music from their ever expanding repertoire. The programme will feature a feast of traditional music blended with beautiful harmonies and accompaniments. In the concert this year we are delighted to be joined once again by Woolsington Strings, a smaller ensemble whose members are familiar faces from the region’s community music groups. There will also be solo and duet performances from some of our leaders and members. The Fiddle Alliance has enjoyed supporting the local music festivals this year, and have again been winning awards in Morpeth and Rothbury, and this is their final performance of the year – where better than the beautiful surroundings of St Mary’s, Gateshead.

Maddison’s Thread will be playing at Hartlepool’s Wintertide Festival this year, featuring the full 10 piece line-up that rocked the album launch in January. As well as Lee’s stunning vocals, I will be joining regulars Nige (bass) & Darren (drums), alongside Paul (guitars), Kieran (flute) and Suzy (backing vocals). I am absolutely delighted that the string quartet will be getting together once again, with Emma, Jill & Fiona bringing their glorious sounds to the string arrangements. Such a treat!

This will be a landmark performance as it is not often we can get a full line-up of such splendid musicians together! And all to support the wonderful tunes and lyrics that make up Lee’s enthralling songs. The event will be candlelit creating a very special atmosphere, with limited ticket allocation, so book your tickets now.

Contributions to shared buffet table welcome

Join Bryan Jackson, Alan Edwards and Stewart Hardy to share an evening of music from light classics to folk, with maybe a few Christmas Carols, all arranged for three fiddles. Tickets are £10 on the door supporting the Alnwick Rotary Club charities.

Stewart will be holding a Youth Workshop as part of the Fiddle Day in Low Fell on Sunday 10th December 2017.

The focus will be on tunes and techniques for fiddle players, geared towards young people of around Grade 3 standard or above.

The workshop will be held at the Eve Trew School of Dance in Low Fell, and onsite car parking and good transport links are available.
