Workshops on Zoom!

Attend these Zoom workshops live for the chance to ask questions and chat in the breaks! If you can’t attend live, the Zoom calls are recorded and will be available to you afterwards so you can complete the workshops or go over things again in your own time. You keep full access to the Zoom recording, notation and audio files.

Friday 28th February 7.00 – 9.00 pm
Play-along Session in Harmony for Mixed Instruments
For intermediate and above players of any instrument – notation and audio for around 15 tunes, with harmonies and chord suggestions provided in advance. Play the tune along with Stewart, or play the harmony line against the tune, or use the suggested chords, or your own, to accompany Stewart’s playing.

Saturday 1st March, 10.00 am – 12.00 noon
Fiddle Workshop 1
Fred Picknell’s March (Andy May)
For a Northumbrian piper and multi-instrumentalist, Andy May writes a wonderful fiddle tune! His beautiful march dedicated to Fred Picknell is quite rightly enjoying a great deal of attention.
A tune and fiddle technique workshop aimed at Competent Beginners to Upper Intermediates, with a full worksheet and audio files provided.

Saturday 1st March, 2.00 – 4.00 pm
Fiddle Workshop 2
Yeavering Bell (Matt Seattle)
Before he became a guru of the border pipes, Matt Seattle was very active as a fiddler in the north east of England. On this Saturday afternoon, we will tackle his excellent rant, Yeavering Bell, which is one of my all time favourite tunes.
A tune and fiddle technique workshop aimed at Intermediate to Advanced Players, with a full worksheet and audio files provided.

All Feb/March workshops are £20 each, or attend any two for £35, or all three for £50.

Learning on Zoom has many benefits, not least the reduction in travel time, cost and pollution, making it accessible to those in other parts of the country, but also providing an environment where you might have the confidence to have a go at things you might not otherwise attempt. Plus you can use the recording of the call to go over things you’d like to spend more time on afterwards, or even access the workshop if you’re not available at the time!
