🎧 The Tune VaultIt was so good to get back into gigging with my pal, Frank McLaughlin, exploring some new repertoire and revisiting old favourites. Here’s one for The Tune Vault that we have been playing for many years and which has travelled far and wide - a beautiful hornpipe called The Locomotive.🎼 Notation available on The Tune Vault page of the websiteThe Locomotive (James Hill)A very pretty hornpipe in D major attributed to the Tyneside master fiddler, James Hill. It could be named for a pub - there were several of that name on Tyneside in Hill’s time - but we have no way of knowing for sure. What can be said is that railways and the building of locomotives were an important source of employment during Hill’s lifetime and so very likely impacted on his life and music. The Locomotive (James Hill) | The Tune Vault
