Stewart Hardy is a musician based in the North East of England. From 1976 he received a classical training on the violin, becoming a full-time professional musician in 1988. For fifteen years his career was based around performance, touring with many bands all over the world playing traditional folk, pop, rock, jazz, country and western swing music, whilst also working as a session musician, both on stage and in the recording studio.
Throughout this time Stewart developed his skills as a teacher and composer. His compositions have featured on both radio and television. Since 2003, he has been a core tutor on the Folk Degree at Newcastle University and has been involved with numerous national and international projects.
In 2001 he released his solo CD Tod’s Assembly, which featured the playing of current musical partner, Frank McLaughlin. 2009 saw the publication of Stewart’s first book, Secrets of Jigs - Tips and Technique for Fiddle, and in February 2010, Stewart and Frank released two CDs of their work, Compass and Root 2.
2009 also saw the publication of Stewart’s first book, Secrets of Jigs - Tips and Technique for Fiddle, and in 2012, his second book, Secrets of Reels - Tips and Technique for Fiddle.
