This will be our exciting Album Launch concert for “The Gift”.
Doors 7.30, start time 8 pm.
Pre-order the CD now (with free collection at the concert – select from the delivery options) to receive a special thank-you gift!
This extremely rare new album launch from one of the UK’s longest established instrumental folk duos promises to provide an uplifting and joyous evening.
In their twenty-two years of performing music as a duo, fiddle virtuoso Stewart Hardy and Scottish guitar supremo Frank McLaughlin have appeared together in numerous projects but their new CD “The Gift” will be only their second release as an instrumental duo, a mere nine years after their critically acclaimed debut “Root2”. If ‘commercial’ and ‘prolific’ might not be the most frequently used descriptors for their studio work, their onstage performances have consistently delighted audiences as their rare musical kinship and irreverent banter hold listeners spellbound.
This new album of predominantly self-penned material reflects a shared musical heritage rooted in the traditions of Scotland, the Borders and Northumberland, and exemplifies the very best of partnerships between fiddle and guitar.
April 2018 sees us head across the North Sea for a series of gigs in the Netherlands and Germany. We will be performing tracks from our new album, The Gift, as well as some old favourites where time allows. Please contact the venues directly for details and tickets.
This concert will be in the Martin Luther-Saal, St. Viktor’s Church in Schwerte, organised by Joanna Scott Douglas.

🎶 The Tune VaultWe've just had a wonderful fiddling weekend at Shepherds Dene. Many thanks to the lovely folk who came along and contributed so much to making the whole event such fun. Now I’m back home, it's time to open The Tune Vault and deposit another favourite James Hill tune. Hope you enjoy The Hunter.🎥 Link in the comments5 days ago

🎶 The Tune Vault - Scant of SillerWilliam Vickers Manuscript, 1770youtu.be/RCJpVSis614Sadly, hard times have become the norm for so many these days. Contributions to my bursary fund for assisting musicians to attend the various courses and projects that Ali and I put together are always gratefully received.Scant of Siller (Wm Vickers MS, 1770)A favourite tune that leapt out during an initial perusal of Matt Seattles first edition of the William Vickers manuscript, published as The Great Northern Tunebook back in the 1980s. I suspect some development of the tune has occurred over the years. It still seems to sum up the pecuniary position of a jobbing musician! ...
