Big changes are coming into effect at JSArts; after more than twenty-five years of running workshops, Jo and Jimmy have finally decided that from the end of June 2019, the time has come to step back and hand over the reins to someone else. The name is staying the same whilst the running of JSArts will pass to Stewart Hardy Music. We are aiming to continue providing the same programme of workshops, bringing them to other parts of the country. With this in mind we have started looking at and booking some beautiful new venues. If you have knowledge of suitable venues for residential or non-residential workshops in your area, we would love to hear from you.
I did my first workshop for Jimmy and Jo back in 1992 when they set up the Blyth Valley Music Workshop. In the years since I have done well over two hundred workshops with them – far more than for any other organization – so it is no exaggeration to say they have had a huge impact on both my career and my development as an educator. It is impossible to express the extent of my gratitude for the support and friendship they have given to me over the years. Nor can I overstate my admiration for the contribution they have made to the folk music community. In their own quiet way they have had a huge impact on the development of instrumental music over the years. Thank you so much to you both. I look forward to making our last few courses together more special than ever!
