MNG_CommStrings_imageAs part of the Morpeth Northumbrian Gathering, I will be leading two Community Strings workshops, culminating in a performance at the Golden Gala Concert on the Friday night at the Gathering. These two workshops will be rehearsing arrangements of tunes I composed to commemorate the tricentenary of the Town Hall – all welcome, just turn up!

Wednesdays 29th March and 12th April: 6 – 8 pm, Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum, Bridge Street, Morpeth.

£6 per person to participate (one workshop or two) – school aged children are free.

Resources (sheet music and recordings of the tunes) for those wishing to take part can be found here.

The whole weekend will be a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of this wonderful traditional gathering and there will be the usual competitions, concerts and sessions in various venues. The Tyneside Fiddle Alliance will also be performing in the Golden Gala Concert and I’m looking forward to the duo and group competitions on the Saturday.

Fri 21st April: 7.30 pm – Community Strings and TFA in the Golden Gala Concert, Morpeth Methodist Church.
Sat 22nd April: from 2 pm – Fiddle competitions and duets, St George’s URC Church.
From 3.30 pm – Folk Group / Concert Band competition, Morpeth Town Hall.
